Guadalupe Fur Seal Identification Tips

ID: Narrow pointed snout; flat head; hair on foreflippers extend below the wrist (V-shape)
Size: Adult males 7ft and ~400-490 lb; Adult females 5ft and ~100-120 lb
Color: Thick fur, uniform dark brown to black pelage
Ears: External ear flaps
Foreflippers: long, broad foreflippers that they can walk on
Genitals: external testes; 1-2 sets of teats
Behaviors:  Solitary, non-social animals; males are "polygamous" and may mate with up to 12 females during a single breeding season, which is from June-August.
